THE GENERALIZED EQUATIONS ARE DISCUSSED WHICH PERTAIN TO AN AIRPLANE EXECUTING ITS FLIGHT PATH IN A SINGLE VERTICAL PLANE, UNDER A SEQUENCE OF STIPULATIONS SPECIFYING THE NATURE OF THE LOCAL OPTIMA WHICH ARE DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT IN CHARACTER ALONG SUCCESSIVE PORTIONS OF THIS PATH. THE AERODYNAMIC AND PROPULSIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE AIRPLANE ARE ALLOWED TO BE SPECIFIED WITH COMPLETE GENERALITY. Topics: EXPERIMENTATION, OSCILLATIONS, INDICATING INSTRUMENTS, ACCELERATION, TAKEOFF, DIALS, JET AIRCRAFT,...

Dynamic migration of lightweight threads supports both data locality and load balancing. However, migrating threads that contain pointers referencing data in both the stack and heap remains an open problem. In this paper we describe a technique by which threads with pointers referencing both stack and non-shared heap data can be migrated such that the pointers remain valid after migration. As a result, threads containing pointers can now be migrated between processors in a homogeneous... An optical pantograph for directing light beams and the like from a source to a receiver according to the movement of a pointer. The device can be used for, among other things, directing a laser beam and the like to a target for etching patterns on a target according to the movement of a pointer relative to a pattern trace. Three experiments were conducted on the time required to make qualitative readings of a panel of dials. The results indicate that reading time is approximately a linear function of the number of dials on the panel. The slope of the line is about 18 times greater when pointers are not aligned than when they are aligned at the 9 o'clock position. For aligned pointers, time increases directly with the distance of the misaligned pointer from the fixation point, either vertical or horizontal. When... A software system has been developed that gives engineers and operations personnel with no "formal" programming expertise, but who are familiar with the Microsoft Windows operating system, the ability to create visualization displays to monitor the health and performance of aircraft/spacecraft. This software system is currently supporting the X38 V201 spacecraft component/system testing and is intended to give users the ability to create, test, deploy, and certify their subsystem...
